Learn to weave images and prose on this fun and inspirational workshop, led by two experienced photographers and published authors, Guy Tal and Colleen Miniuk-Sperry.

 

With a focus on creative writing skills, we'll help you:

We'll kickoff the workshop with a casual happy hour and an introductory presentation on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday through Sunday morning we'll offer classroom lectures covering topics such as: mindfulness/meditation and creativity, connecting verbal and visual language, crafting a narrative arc, creating tension and interest among readers and viewers, and more. Then, we'll head into the field to work on both photography and writing assignments geared to help you practice specific techniques with the beautiful Vermilion Cliffs and Marble Canyon country around Lee's Ferry as our backdrop.

 

With an emphasis on learning and personal growth (vs. creating masterpieces in five days), each participant will have their written and visual expressions reviewed during daily critique sessions.

 

Designed for intermediate and advanced photographers who are comfortable with the technical aspects of photography, this workshop does not require nor assume any previous writing experience. Our goal is to make you feel more inspired and confident in communicating your knowledge, passions, and experiences in photographs and words. And you'll have a blast in the process!

 

Physical Requirements: Best suited for mobile, sure-footed participants who are capable of hiking up to two-miles roundtrip on uneven, rocky terrain while carrying their gear.
